Build 5231 Released, IE7 Users Can't Download
Published 10/17/2005 in Windows Vista News by Steve Sinchak with 2,295 views

Microsoft has released Windows Vista Build 5231 today on the Microsoft Connect beta website. Unfortunately, many users, including myself received an error while trying to download to new image file.

"The system has encountered an unexpected error. We apologize for the inconvenience. The issue will be addressed as quickly as possible. " is what I was shown when trying to download the ISO.

I was curious if this error was caused by the beta version of Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP that I was running.  After I attempted to download the file a handful of time again with IE7, I started up Firefox and headed over to Microsoft Connect. To my surprise, the file download started without any problems.

It now appears that there is a bug with the Connect website for users running IE7 for Windows XP. While the Microsoft Connect web site made it's debut with the Windows Vista Beta 1 release and is constantly updated, it is interesting that at the current moment, Firefox is more compatible with it than IE7.
