Stephan Hoefnagels gave developers a look at how Microsoft designed the Windows 7 interface at Microsoft’s MIX09 conference. In the "Designing the Windows 7 Desktop Experience" presentation Stephan showed a number of interesting Windows 7 prototypes. The screenshots show Microsoft wrote a lot of early UI code to test out new concepts that evolved into the final Windows 7 UI. Here are some of my favorite:
