No Canada events
I wonder why Canada is left out on the windows 7 launch events??

Could it be due to i4i & the U.S. District Court order??

As usual, since Katrina Louisiana is completely skipped for this, and most other events like it.

From what I was told there will not be one large launch event just a lot of smaller local events. The local MS office in each country is handling their own launch events. There are just no details yet about events in other countries that I'm aware of. I have also heard about other launch events across the USA run by MVPs and user groups but no firm dates and locations yet.

What does "while supplies last" mean?
@dave, everyone that successfully registers while there is space still available should get a free copy of Windows 7. Although on the Microsoft registration page they add the typical "while supplies last" legal text for the promotion. I would arrive a little early to make sure you get your copy.

Just went to this in Minneapolis. Decent seminar, at the end I got the disc. It says, "DVD Included 32-and/or 64-bit disc(s) inside." I open it and it only has the 32 bit disc. It just has one product key. If I get a disc for 64 bit will my key work for it? Or anyone else that go to this get the 64 bit disc? I could go back there is an afternoon session...

Your product key should work fine with the 64-bit version of the same edition. Eg. Ultimate 64-bit and Ultimate 32-bit.

Nothing in Memphis TN either huh. The public school system here could use some motivation in upgrading from XP.

I just sent an email to the Launch Party people in response to the messages on this post (I am scheduled for the Orange County CA launch), and received back the following response:

"Thank you for your email. We just received a response today that only the 32 bit version is provided at the event and unfortunately we cannot assist you in exchanging your software for a different version. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

So unless you have another source for a 64-bit disc that you can use with the free key, don't waste your time attending the launch party if your only reason for doing so is to get the free Win7 x64.

I went to the Chicago event today - the same story with only 32 bit disks. However I stumbled across a Microsoft employee with forms requesting an upgrade to 64 bit. I happily filled out the form and turned it in, keeping the bottom tear-off portion. It states "Windows 7 64-bit request. This is your proof that you have requested an exchange for a Windows 7 64-bit DVD. If you have not heard from us in a month, please email tne64@microsoft.com. Thank you again for your interest in Windows 7". My guess that this email address might be your only avenue to getting the version you need. I found this forum while searching the web for a 64bit iso that i could try my product key on.

The key is the most important part since it will work on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7. You can try downloading the 64-bit enterprise trial from here http://tweaks.com/40147 and then try the edition changer trick to allow you to install Ultimate from the Enterprise install media (http://tweaks.com/40135).
