Windows 7 Outsells Vista by 234%

According to NPD's weekly report, Windows 7 has outsold Windows Vista by 234% during the first few days after launch which includes all pre-orders. The increase in units can be partially attributed to the deep discounts offered on pre-orders but total sales in dollars is up 82% over Windows Vista showing a big increase in both units and sales. However the economy is affecting new PC sales with total PC sales up only 49% this year compared to 68% with Windows Vista. At least initially, more consumers are opting to upgrade their existing PC instead of buying a new computer compared to Windows Vista.

I am not surprised. As everybody on the planet knows, Vista was a big fat flop. As a Vista Ultimate user who had to upgrade just about all hardware to run vista, I am disgusted with Microsoft and I will never pay an additional 200 plus bucks to upgrade to Windows 7 when 7 IS WHAT VISTA SHOULD HAVE BEEN.

Sorry but I must agree with Frank. I have Ultimate also and it would seem to me that Microsoft was just a little hasty in there release of Vista. Should have done more beta with it. Can't blame him about the priceing. Much too much for Micro's mistakes.

Frank, come on. upgrade all of your hardware just to run vista? your stuff was out of date to begin with then. don't blame vista because it wasn't made to run on old dated stuff.

Well I think I must forgive Microsoft. Win7 is everthing they said. It would seem they got it right this time. Wanted to upgrade my system so as to run a raid array, so I put win7 on, and I will say this, it has been pretty darn good. Cheap enough too, for a system builder.

I am glad Windows 7 is doing well with the people and in the market. Me and most of my friends were smart enough to wait when Vista came out. We all knew it was too early. And like most people, we simply kept our xp until 7 came out. It's never wise to be the first to jump on a ship that we don't know is unsinkable. Wait for the 2nd one revision. It's the same for video game consoles.
