Microsoft announced plans on Thursday to open its own chain of stores and hired DreamWorks Animation executive David Porter to run them. Kevin Turner explained Microsoft is "working hard to transform the PC and Microsoft buying experience at retail by improving the articulation and demonstration of the Microsoft innovation and value proposition so that it’s clear, simple and straightforward for consumers everywhere."
David's first order of business will be determining store locations and other specifics. Microsoft has not yet provided a time as to when the first stores will open. With Microsoft upcoming launch of Windows 7 and many other products we may see Microsoft stores starting to show up as early as this fall.
